Like so many in the industry, Ryan and Malorie Laukat started Red Raven Games in their basement. While Ryan worked a day job and Malorie was at home with two babies, they spent every spare minute designing, playtesting, Kickstarting, and manufacturing Ryan's designs. A few short years, and thousands of flat rate packages later, Red Raven Games has published over a dozen titles in over 20 languages.
Ryan Laukat is the designer and illustrator of Above and Below, Near and Far, Empires of the Void, City of Iron, Eight-Minute Empire, and more. When he was thirteen he decided to design a card game so that he could illustrate the cards. Since then, he’s designed and illustrated countless game prototypes. In 2008, he started illustrating as a self-taught, freelance artist, creating art for Dominion cards. Other game illustration credits include: Bridge Troll, Trollhalla, Chocolatl, and Rails of New England. He is grateful to now be combining his passions illustrating his own designs.
Malorie Laukat is developer, writer, and wearer of many hats at Red Raven games, and simultaneously Ryan's greatest muse and harshest critic. She spends hours playtesting, developing, and brainstorming each game at Red Raven. She and Ryan are both stay-at-home parents, so when they're not busy running the company, they're running zone defense on their three children.
